MONSANTO KNEW 35 YEARS AGO THAT ITS GLYPHOSATE-SOAKED ‘FOOD’ CAUSES CANCER
Monsanto still contends that there is no risk associated with their glyphosate sprayed, genetically modified ‘food’, yet the record shows that they knew that it caused cancer 30+ years ago.
What’s worse is that the EPA knew the same thing, at the same time, yet Monsanto was allowed to keep producing their GMO crops and toxic pesticides to spray them with. At least as early as 1981 both Monsanto and the EPA knew that glyphosate caused cancer in mice, rats, and dogs. Monsanto claimed that the data that the EPA requested in its analysis of glyphosate was a “Trade Secret”. So, of course, the EPA just deemed it safe.
According to Dr. Brian John from GM-Free Cymru, “The evidence shows that by 1981 both Monsanto and the EPA were aware of malignant tumours and pre-cancerous conditions in the test animals which were fed small doses of glyphosate in the secret feeding experiments. Although concerns were expressed at the time by EPA committees, these concerns were later suppressed under the weight of conflicting evidence brought forward by Monsanto, some of it involving the inappropriate use of historical control data of dubious quality. None of these studies is available for independent examination.”
Considering that Monsanto was doing their own testing to be presented to the EPA, it wasn’t hard for them to change the outcome of their “tests”. The EPA even had documentation that Monsanto was changing their testing protocols by only giving the test mice 1/100 of the maximum tollerated dose. According to the Oncogenicity Peer Review Committee, if the dose would have been the maximum tollerable dose that was actually supposed to have been tested, “tumors might have been induced.”
Dr. Stanley Ewen, a pathologist points out that the mice were never tested like they should have been: “The effect of glyphosate on endocrine tissue such as breast and prostate, or even placenta, is disruptive at least and an increased incidence of endocrine neoplasia is likely to be seen in National Statistics. The Glyphosate Task Force denies the involvement of glyphosate in human malignancy despite their knowledge of many reports of lymphomas and pituitary adenomas in experimental animals dosed with glyphosate.”
So although Monsanto claims their food and pesticides are safe, it’s been known for 35 years that it causes cancer. Which makes one raise the question: “how is this legal?”
