PEEING WOMAN SEES NASTY THING IN TOILET, THEN DOC SAYS WHAT’S INSIDE HER
A South Carolina woman was recently using the restroom but was left horrified after standing up and seeing a few nasty things floating in the water. Things would only get worse for her as she went to the doctor – and that’s when she found out what was inside her.
According to BMJ Case Reports, an unidentified 50 year-old woman was suffering from extreme pain in her side. Things would go from bad to worse for the woman as she began to actually pee out what appeared to be tiny worms every time she used the restroom.
According to the report, the woman suffered like this for about 3 months before going to a doctor and having things checked out. While there, she was instructed to give a urine sample which led medical professionals to see the worms wiggling around in the cup. They were just over 3/16 of an inch long and clearly visible to the naked eye.
After further testing, doctors would determine what the nasty things in her pee were larvae belonging to the Diptera species of fly. The unfortunate woman would later be diagnosed with a condition called urinary myiasis – where a fly lays its eggs in the body and its worms infest the urinary tract.
According to Mail Online, “Urinary myiasis is generally caught when people drink water sources contaminated with fly eggs.” The condition can also affect the skin, eyes, nasal passages and gastrointestinal passage, but urinary myiasis is the most uncommon.
This woman had lot of recently relocated to South Carolina from Mexico where the problem occurs rather frequently. As the problem is non existent here in America, doctors were forced to consult medical literature to learn how to treat it.
The woman reported that she saw no more signs of the wiggling worms in her urine just one week after she began treatment. Although this woman may have thought her embarrassing problem would remedy itself, this didn’t turn out to be the case. This issue is disgusting enough, but she should be thankful that she went to the doctor when she did – I wouldn’t want to know what happens when this problem goes untreated.
